Falanghina del Sannio DOC VITAE
The vine of this white wine is very ancient. It is the most widespread in the province of Benevento in Southern Italy and among the most cultivated in the entire Campania region. The origin of the name Falanghina can be traced back to the Latin “falanx”, a derivation from the Roman Balkan. This term indicates the pole to which the vines were supported and which today can be found in some old generation plants. Although difficult to establish exactly, it is assumed that in ancient Roman times the most expensive and sought-after whites were produced with grapes that in some way can be traced back to and related to today’s Falanghina. What is certain is that Falanghina del Sannio DOC is an excellence of the Benevento area.
Features
The production of Falanghina del Sannio DOC VITAE is very limited as the cultivation of grapes is restricted in an area that has homogeneous characteristics. In particular, the vine is grown on a patch of calcareous-marly soil which gives the wine a good structure and intense aromas.
Falanghina del Sannio DOC VITAE has a pale straw yellow color. The nose reveals aromas of banana, green apple and aromatic herbs. This white berried wine is endowed with an elegance and harmony that are felt at the first sip. The flavor is dry and smooth, balanced by a robust structure and good acidity which make it perfect for our wine selection. A pleasure to be enjoyed both for an aperitif and for a dinner, with combinations that can range from fish to white meats and fresh cheeses.
